Thanks for joining us for Soil Culture, an immersive community walk that explored a Beverly landscape on May 3, 2025 in Beverly, MA.
This walk began in the parking lot of the Hannah Elementary School, 41 Brimbal Ave, Beverly, MA, and lasted approximately two hours, making several stops for presentation and dialog along the way. Each stop marked different aspects of artistic exploration and research regarding soil, waste, climate, geology, and history. Participants were guided on this journey by a Soil Culture map, which includes images and texts that support the navigation of the site. The terrain of the walk is not difficult. Starting in the parking lot behind the Hannah Elementary School, we proceeded up a modest incline into the Soil Culture site, then circumnavigated the capped landfill, where the ground is mostly grass. Soil Culture is an artistic project created by Maria Patricia Tinajero and Julie Poitras Santos and funded by the Collective Futures Fund.
